La Retraite School, London Borough of Lambeth, Sports Complex – provision of a design, gaining Planning Approval and preparing Employers’ Requirements for a national consultancy.  The School is in a conservation area and so negotiations with the School and the Planners were crucial in achieving the best solution. To minimise the take up of green sports areas, an existing Lab. was converted to form new Changing rooms, and replaced above. The new 4-court Sports Hall was designed with a pitched slate roof to blend with the existing buildings, and features oriel window modelling to the elevations. Air inlet grilles are positioned below the windows.  Four stacks on the roof naturally ventilate the building and provide interest to the roofscape.
